Singer/Songwriter Showcase with Rebekah Jean
Saturday, June 30th, 6:30pm

Rebekah Jean

Rebekah Jean is a smooth, powerful voice and honest, pointed lyrics. Raised within earshot of Cleveland, she cut her musical teeth on her father’s classic rock while singing “I’ll Fly Away” in her family’s southern Pentecostal church long before the soundtrack from O Brother, Where art Thou? swept listeners into an Americana obsession.

After nearly two years of touring as the tambourine-shaking, bass-climbing backup vocalist and manager for the David Mayfield Parade, Rebekah Jean stepped back from Mayfield’s project in 2013 to make a home in Ohio and forge a career out of her own compositions. She’s been winning hearts in Ohio and regionally ever since.

You can find out more about Rebekah on her website.

Saturday, July 1st, 6:30 pm

Gretchen Pleuss Promo Photo

“As with some of her proudly stated musical heroes, which include Nick Drake, Joni Mitchell, Paul Simon, and Ani Difranco, Pleuss keeps the music above the standard, three-chord, coffee-house troubadour sound with some cool chord progressions (a la Mitchell) and grooves. Pleuss also trusts her lilting melodies enough to use her quiet, emotive alto to sell her lyrics.” – Malcolm X Abram, The Akron Beacon Journal

Singer/Songwriter Showcase with Matthew Maruna
Friday, July 7th, 6:30pm

Matthew Maruna with his guitar

Matthew started out his music career as the guitarist and primary songwriter for the alternative rock group The Fireside Poets. When that group disbanded he started writing songs that would make up Scratchboard’s 2011 debut album Dark Sun as well as future albums Sunrise and Nightfall. Scratchboard features Matt as singer, guitar player, and songwriter as well as friend Josh Wilson on guitar, bass, and backing vocals.

Matthew is set to release three, seven song solo albums in 2017. The albums will focus on the seasons: summer, fall, and winter. Each album will evoke the feel and emotions of that season. Matt will be featured on electric, acoustic, 12 string, baritone, and bass guitars, ukulele, mandolin, lead and background vocals. These albums will also feature members of The Fireside Poets, Brandon and Spencer Hall on bass guitar, cello, drums and percussion bringing Matt’s musical career full circle. The albums will highlight Matthew’s atmospheric and meticulously crafted songwriting as well as deep, heartfelt lyrics that have become his signature.
